Easy Way to Hang Curtains on Blinds

Just about everyone has some form of blinds in their home. But many cannot afford the ones that block out the sun. So they then turn to putting up curtains. There are other reasons why one would use curtains along with blinds too. This includes the fact that they want to dress up their window. Or they may feel that the blinds do not offer enough privacy to their home. One main reason could also be because the blinds are not keeping out enough heat or cold. Regulating the energy weather its heat or cold, can be accomplished by using curtains. It can also help save on energy bills. These are all valid points to have curtains hung up with the blinds. It can be simple to set up curtains, but it depends on the overall outcome of the type of curtains that are installed.
The first step to hanging curtains over vertical blinds would be to take the necessary measurements of the window, not the blinds. Measuring correctly would be very important to ensuring the correct sizing and fit for the curtains. The way the measurements needs to be taken is width, then the length. If they are taken the other way around, the measurements will be completely off, and the curtains will not fit.
The type of curtains that are chosen and used makes a difference as well. The full length curtains are best to choose and the lined ones are even better. They will last the longest and provided the best balance between the temperature. Not only that, but lined ones can sometimes provide more privacy, or block out excess light. Be sure to buy curtains that are a little bit longer then the length of the measurement, by just a few inches. Remember, the curtains normally go a couple inches above the actual window or door frame.
As with the size of the curtain to purchase, the size of the curtain rod is important as well. The rod should just be a couple inches longer the widest part of the area as well. As you can see so far, measurements are important in getting the right fit for curtains to fit over and above the blinds. The rod sometimes come with the rings to match. If not, then purchase ones that would match the color of the rod.
When installing the curtain, you want to be sure you hang it up in the right place. The best way to determine that would be to measure once more and make a mark around four inches over the top part of the blinds. Do not forgot to measure the outside portion as well. Go ahead and begin installing the rod as the instruction shows. The curtain rod should also come with a support for the center part. This ensures there isn’t a dent in the middle of the rod from gravity or tension of the weight of the curtain.
