Pub Tables Move Into the Dining Room

To the non-furniture aficionado, dining room tables and some other furniture like vanity tables tend to remain somewhat static in their design and then suddenly evolve into a different style that’s commonly accepted.

For years, I saw pub tables at places like Applebee’s and other restaurants with a bar area attached to the main dining area.

The pub tables have probably been around longer than I remember, but if you have small children, they aren’t a good seating option for a meal—way too far for a little one to fall. Of course, if you were confident they wouldn’t fall, the distance to the floor would keep them in their seat and not trying to move about so much.

pub tables now commonly adorn homes and casual dining areas. What was once a restaurant fixture has become a common option for your own dining room or entertainment area. When this happened, I have no idea, but they slowly crept from the basement, entertainment room with a bar-type atmosphere to the regular dining room upstairs. It’s like the outdoor dog who finds himself at the hearth on a thick rug enjoying a crackling fire and wondering how he ended up inside.
